Writing & Speaking

A body of work exploring presence, identity, and sustainable leadership.

Leadership Writing & Speaking on Transition: Deborah Lynn Parrish speaking and writing about executive transition, identity under pressure, and sustainable leadership.

When presence leads, words land differently.

The Thinking

Over time, a few threads have quietly woven themselves through my writing and speaking. I find that I keep returning to the same questions:

How does internal clarity shape what we build?
What happens to identity under pressure?
What changes when we slow down enough to pay attention?

Out of that exploration, I’ve created a set of frameworks and methods that help leaders and teams navigate change in real, practical ways:

  • The B-E-I-N-G Framework — a way of looking at embodied leadership

  • The Inner Edge — the space between inner alignment and outer expression

  • The Messy Middle — managing transition as a crossing rather than a crisis

  • Reframing Tall Poppy Syndrome into safe visibility and deep personal reflection

  • Expanding perspective in complex systems

What began as ideas have become living practices — tools I’ve built, tested, and refined across different contexts. Through writing, conversation, and lived experience, each one continues to evolve. Together, they form the backbone of my work and the fuel behind my own purpose and direction.

Writing

Writing is where I make sense of what I’m noticing. It’s where I slow down enough to think clearly. Where patterns become visible. Where experience turns into language.

As an Executive Contributor with Brainz Magazine, I publish essays exploring leadership, identity, resilience, and presence — especially in seasons of change.

My longer projects, including future books, are an extension of this same curiosity.

Conversations

Some of the best thinking happens out loud. Much of what unfolds in my life and practice begins there — often in the quiet questions I’m asking myself before they’re shared with anyone else. I’m drawn to spaces where people are willing to slow down and explore what’s actually shifting — in leadership, in identity, in the way we move through change.

Not performance or debate. Just honest exploration that goes beneath the surface.

The messy middle we don’t always choose.
The quiet reorientation that follows transition.
The subtle realignments that reshape how we live and lead.

If you’re hosting something thoughtful — an interview, a salon, a roundtable — and you value depth over noise, I’d be glad to explore it with you.

Speaking

My speaking engagements grow from the same questions I explore in my writing and advisory work. I share what I’m noticing — and invite people to examine it with me.

I draw from the same themes explored here — presence, identity, transition — and translate them into grounded, usable insight. I teach practical frameworks and facilitate thoughtful dialogue — helping audiences navigate complexity with greater clarity and steadiness.
